If you have all your pet taming skills (including the feeding skill), go out into the wilds and find one (edit, a wild animal) your level or just under (you can't tame one over) -- and tame yourself a pet!
Try different things. To be brutally honest, a boar is probably your
best bet.
It's got decent AC and hit points. It has - which means it goes to target really fast (saves time over 1000s of fights, and is good in wsg/pvp). They also now get Gore - added dps - slap on Bite - and you've got a mean little pet.
It's small,
so it doesn't get in your way when you want to target. It eats almost anything and is so easy to feed.
If the look kills you - if you just don't see yourself cruising around Azorath with a pig - go for whatever you want!
Take tram to SW and go west thru Elwynn Forest to WEstfall if you don't like Dun Morogh pets (snow cats, bears, pigs) - and go for a buzzard or a coyote. You can get a spider in Loch Modan.
All pets do just fine. Go to and the Petopia to read where to find skills, etc.
Btw you put your main pet in a STABLE (at any inn, or in IF near trainer, costs 5s) and go train another pet that has a skill you want to add to your main pet. Hunt w/ the pet until
you learn the new skill (like Bite 2) - then let the temporary pet go - get your main pet out of stable, click the button that looks like a slingshot (Y shape in the icon) - it's in general for some weird reason - and then click button to train the skill you learned from the temporary pet to your main pet! Rinse and repeat as you level and new skills become available!
